Each January, to give kids a great fun day out and parents and grandparents a break, Avoca Beach Picture Theatre put together a great FAMILY FUN DAY. It’s a big day and it’s all very affordable!

The day includes a jumping castle, Lewis the Magician and a screening of the family friendly film MATILDA.  Lewis is a master of illusion with tricks that will have the children spell bound and wondering “How did he do THAT?”  Entertaining, enthralling and engaging, Lewis will create wow and wonder in the children.

MATILDA is rare amongst children's films in that it's as much cathartic fun for adults as it is a sheer, silly adrenaline jolt for youngsters.  Based closely on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name, this will delight both kids and parents.  With real life married couple and funny people Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman as Matilda’s kooky mum and dad there is a lot of fun to be had.  Mara Wilson is great as the extremely curious and intelligent little girl but it is the sweet hearted, gentle and wise teacher Miss Honey – Embeth Davidtz – who steals the show, and our hearts.
Additionally, there will also be available a wide range of plaster painting and a great new innovation this year of stuff-your-own animal friend.  Each child – or adult – can choose which new friend to make from our wide variety of plush skins and then decide on which outfit and accessories will suit it most! A personalised adoption certificate completes the process.  Sausage sizzle for lunch, iceblocks, coffee and cake and so much more to relax into the day.
