It’s INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY. We have been gathering the forces and are putting on what I believe will be a very powerful night for our annual INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY event. With an astounding big drum opening from RHTHYM HUNTERS followed by a powerful live performance from Margaret McGowan’s drama team and an insightful acoustic string set from the very talented Kim Cannon, our INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENING is set for a very special night. Then…we all know how powerful the media is. We all know how duped we feel when we discover the media has fooled us again. MISS REPRESENTATION exposes the media as trivializing women and altering the course of women’s lives both personally & politically. This disturbing eye-opener is vitally important. Strong women are described in news reports according to how they look whilst what they say or do is virtually ignored. Did you know that only 7% of directors and 10% of writers in film are women, with the average number of news stories about females less than 20%? MISS REPRESETNATION calls us to action with a vision of a better world. Let’s listen & act. 7pm Friday 9th March, just $15 each. Sponsored by Gosford City Council. PS – we have made some very special souvenirs for the night – that will remind you all through the year and beyond “We Can Do It.”
